Beginners Swim Lessons

Class Description Group lessons -4 students/2 instructors

Beginners and 1st time swimmers

If your child is timid or fearful in the water we would ask that you

be ready to get into the water with them the first few lessons.  Building up trust with our swim instructors and establishing rapport is most important for them to feel comfortable and have fun and be ready to learn.

Your child will learn through a child-centered, activity-oriented approach–coupled with unique and fun skill progressions that they will accomplish at their own pace.  We help our students with encouraging and positive feedback and see that within the group setting they will learn and gain confidence watching their peers in their class.  Here are some of the skills they will learn in beginning swimming;

  • First-time Submersion
  • Breath Holding
  • Blowing Bubbles
  • Learning to safely swim back to the wall
  • Breath Control
  • Front Kicking
  • Back Kicking
  • In-line Kicking
  • Beginning Front Crawl (Freestyle arms without side breathing)

Upon mastering the “Beginners” Level 1 swim class, your child will go on to the Beginner swimming class Level 2 where he/she will learn to swim the first strokes of Freestyle with Side Breathing and also beginning Backstroke
